Starting with the game's strengths, some of the puzzles are genuinely challenging and thought-provoking. The makers of Subliminal had a good idea about solving puzzle using perspective, and they sort of made it work, but they got so many things wrong. However, this is a memorable experience through a strange dream world that's good fun for a couple of hours. It's not as refined as it could've been, and although the story is certainly thematically consistent, it's perhaps a little on the nose. It's a briskly paced puzzler with cool original mechanics that doesn't overstay it's welcome. It could've pushed these mechanics further though, and the puzzles in the latter half of the game could've been more complex. It's a short game, clocking in at a little over 2 hours, but Superliminal makes pretty good use of it's mechanics in that short runtime the game manages to pack in a good number of satisfying puzzles plus a neat little story with a nice message that ties in to the game's themes perfectly. They're a little difficult to explain, but it's very intuitive when playing the game - for the most part, what it boils down to is that you can manipulate the size of some objects, and duplicate some others. The puzzles are good fun and are fairly original thanks to the game's unique mechanics. It's a short game, Superliminal is a smart, inventive puzzle game all about perspective. This is definitely nothing compared with the cleverness of some other clever games like the games mentioned above, or some others available on the Switch, like Baba is You. It's also quite short, but the game still managed to get me bored to death. There are also some issues with performance and implementation of some visual effects, but that might just be a problem of the Switch version. There are some other puzzles with non-euclidean spaces, much like Portal or Antichamber. There are also some puzzles with visual effects, like in The Witness. This method makes slightly more yarn scraps, but you can recycle the scraps by using them as stuffing for craft projects, or you can put them in a small fabric pouch and add a few drops off lavender, rose, or another type of essential oil to make a drawer sachet. My favorite method is found in the pom pom tutorial at Bella Dia. Unfortunately, I’m impatient and not particularly coordinated, so cardboard donuts were flying everywhere. How to make pom poms? I googled around and found a number of tutorials, including several that use the cardboard donut method, which can be found here, here, and here. I finally landed on seeing the film at the drive in, a movie watching option I would be experiencing for the first time. I wasn’t going to let my small TV affect my viewing of Tenet so, as reports continued to come out that Nolan wasn’t going to release the film straight to video, I began to look up options. I saw Inception and the Batman trilogy on the big screen and really enjoyed them. Now I, like a lot of other people, was just not ready to sit in the enclosed space of a movie theater…but I also wanted to see Tenet on the big screen. Like other Christopher Nolan films I had no idea what the story was about, but I knew I wanted to see it in the theater. The clip ended with the unexplainable action sequence of a car flipping on the highway and then reversing back to normal. Scenes of John David Washington and Robert Pattinson speedily rappelling up a building, were followed by fancy people in suits doing spy things while characters spoke over ominous music. Sometime last December the mysterious trailer for Tenet popped up on my phone. |
